There are two versions and two variations in each version of this desirable figurine which was modelled by Graham Orwell.
First Version – Handle Out
First Variation – Small Eye Patch Tommy is wearing a blue jacket, pink waistcoat and yellow-green trousers. His spade handle is ‘out’ from his body and his paw is not through the top of the handle. The dark patches round his eyes are ‘small’ and feathery in appearance.
The figure was issued in 1955 and discontinued in 1974. It has the back-stamp BP-1a, BP-2 or BP-3a.

Second Variation – Large Eye Patch Tommy is wearing a blue jacket, pink waistcoat and yellow trousers. The spade handle is ‘out’ from his body and his paw is not through the top of the handle. The dark patches round his eyes are ‘large’ and reach up to his ears.
The figure was issued in 1970 and discontinued in 1974. It has the back-stamp BP-2 or BP-3a.
Second Version – Handle In
First Variation – Small Eye Patch Tommy is wearing a blue-grey jacket, pink waistcoat and yellow trousers. The spade handle is moulded to his body and he appears to have his paw through the top of the handle.
The dark patches round his eyes are small.
The figure was issued in 1974 and discontinued in 1976. It has the back-stamp BP3a or BP3b.
Second Version – Handle In
Second Variation – Large Eye Patch Tommy is wearing a blue-grey jacket, red waistcoat and yellow trousers. The spade handle is moulded to his body and he appears to have his paw through the top of the handle. The dark patches round his eyes are large and reach to his ears.
The figure was issued in 1975 and discontinued in 2002. It has the back-stamp BP-3b, BP-3c, BP-4 or BP-10a.
N.B. The jacket colour varies from pale to dark blue in BP-3b.
